What we treat

Pain that keeps coming back

A massage eases the surface. Pain care asks why the tension keeps returning to the same place. Our physician and Tui Na therapists read the pattern first — posture, gait, how you sleep, where the load actually sits — then work the muscle and meridian lines feeding it.

  • Chronic lower back painStiffness on waking, and pain that returns every time you sit too long.
  • Neck and shoulder tensionDesk posture, screens and driving — the load that never fully lets go.
  • Restricted shoulder movementReaching, lifting or dressing has quietly become something you plan around.
  • Pain that travels down the legAche, tightness or pins and needles running from the lower back or hip.
  • Sports and overuse strainAn old niggle from training or work that has never properly settled.
  • Tension headachesThe kind that start in a tight neck and jaw and build through the day.

If your pain began with a fall or injury, or comes with numbness, weakness, fever or unexplained weight loss, please see a doctor before booking. TCM pain care works alongside medical treatment, not instead of it.

Treatments at MFF TCM Kovan

This is the treatment room, not the spa. Next door, MFF Kovan at #01-07 handles foot reflexology and relaxation massage. Here the work is targeted, and it starts with an assessment.

  1. 01

    Physician assessment

A TCM Practitioners Board–registered physician is on site. Your session starts by finding where the pain originates, which is often not where you feel it.

  2. 02

    Tui Na pain therapy 推拿

Deep, deliberate manual therapy along the muscle and meridian lines. Firm, controlled, and worked through tenderness rather than around it.

  3. 03

    Cupping 拔罐

Suction applied to tight, overworked muscle to draw out stagnation and bring circulation back to the area. It commonly leaves round marks that fade over several days.

  4. 04

    Gua sha 刮痧

A smooth-edged scraping technique for stubborn surface tension across the back, neck and shoulders. Also leaves temporary reddening.

  5. 05

    Meridian and back therapy

Focused, technique-led work on the tightest zones, plus aftercare you can use — what to stretch, what to avoid, and when to come back.

Treatments from $38++. Rates vary by outlet — walk in, or message us for the full menu and current rates here.

Before your first visit

Wear or bring loose clothing, and tell us about any injury, recent surgery, pregnancy or medication before your session. Sessions here start with an assessment, so allow a little extra time. If cupping or gua sha is used, expect temporary marks that usually fade within three to seven days.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between MFF Kovan and MFF TCM Kovan?

They are two outlets in the same block. MFF Kovan at #01-07 is our foot reflexology and relaxation massage outlet. MFF TCM Kovan at #01-11, right beside it, is the treatment room: TCM pain care, Tui Na, cupping and gua sha, with a registered physician on site. If you want to unwind, go to #01-07. If something hurts and keeps hurting, come to #01-11.

Is there a registered TCM physician at this outlet?

Yes. A physician registered with the TCM Practitioners Board of Singapore is on site at MFF TCM Kovan. Your session begins with an assessment rather than going straight onto the table.

What do cupping and gua sha feel like, and will they leave marks?

Cupping is a strong drawing sensation rather than a sharp one; gua sha is firm scraping along the muscle. Both commonly leave temporary marks, round for cupping and reddened streaks for gua sha, which usually fade within three to seven days. Tell us if you have an event coming up and we will work around it.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on how long the pain has been there. Acute tension often eases within one or two sessions; something you have carried for years takes a course of treatment. The physician will tell you what to expect after the first assessment rather than committing you upfront. For a fuller picture of the techniques and what they are used for, see our guide to TCM pain relief in Singapore.

How much is a session at MFF TCM Kovan?

Treatments start from $38++ and rates vary by outlet, so message us for the current menu here. First-time guests booking online can claim the $88 one-hour TCM Pain Relief Tui Na Massage, usual price $148.

Do I need to book, or can I just walk in?

Walk-ins are welcome. Evenings and weekends get busy, and because sessions here start with an assessment they run longer, so booking on WhatsApp is worth it.

Where exactly are you?

Blk 201 Hougang Street 21, #01-11, Singapore 530201, in the heartland near Heartland Mall Kovan and a short walk from Kovan MRT on the North East Line.

What are your opening hours?

Open daily, 10am to 10pm, including public holidays.
